Manganese exists in water, which is more harmful to drinking water than iron. Water with too much manganese can contaminate the wash and give it a foul smell. Manganese also contaminates the Ion-exchange resin and causes fouling on the heating surfaces of boilers. Manganese is not easy to be oxidized in water, so it is difficult to be removed in the purification process.
Principle: the water sample reacts with the reductive reagent, reducing all forms of manganese in the water sample to divalent manganese ion, then adjusting the PH value of the solution, finally adding the characteristic chromogenic reagent to react to form the brown complex, the absorbance of the complex is proportional to the total manganese concentration in the water sample, and the total manganese content in the water sample can be obtained by measuring the absorbance of the complex.
